What does CleanBeauty mean?
Clean beauty to us means using products that are non nontoxic, safe for us and for the environment using non-conventional ingredients that support the integrity of the hair and skin.
What makes these formulas so clean/non-toxic?
CBL shampoos and conditioners are designed to work synergistically to maximize the health and vitality of the hair and scalp. CBL uses no artificial fragrances, parabens, sulfates or phthalates.
Who is CBL designed for ?
When creating our formulations, we kept diversity and flexibility in mind. We designed our products to be used on any hair type and/or skin. Our diverse collection is ideal for stressed hair that has been exposed to harsh chemicals, sulfates, and/or damage from over washing etc. Therefore, this product line is ideal for the adult woman who has seen the effects of years of hair mistreatment as well as for the younger gals who are just learning about good hair care practices. What’s unique about these ingredients?
Each ingredient is chosen for its anti-oxidative ability to nourish, strengthen and preserve the moisture of the hair therefore helping maintain optimal strand integrity, improve scalp health through increased stimulation of blood supply and be non-irritating to sensitive skin. By using naturally derived plant based surfactants (cleansing agents) and NOT sulfates, cleansing hair without drying is facilitated, consequently the hair is left feeling soft, strong and healthy.
Where are CBL ingredients sourced from ?
All of the ingredients are herbs, or naturally derived and are sourced sustainably where possible and organically grown.
What replaces the use of detergents and sulfates?
We do NOT USE SULFATES. Our cleansing properties are derived naturally using Decyl Glucoside, Coco Glucoside and Sucrose Cocoate. They are obtained from 100% renewable raw materials, through a combination of plant based fatty alcohol derived from coconut and glucose (corn starch). They are mild, and gentle surfactants and because they do not dry the skin, they are ideal for the formulation of personal hygiene and toiletry products. Coco Glucoside is naturally occurring, and can be derived from coconut oil. It shares many of the favorable properties of raw coconut oil, including non-oily moisture. Therefore, it does not dry the scalp like many of the commercial shampoos can. That means that the skin is soothed, while the hair receives the desired cleansing.
What are you using for preservatives?
We use Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, Calcium Gluconate approved by ECOCERT as a preservative in certify organic cosmetics.
Is CBL Cruelty free/ Vegan?
Our vegan products have not been tested on any animal and contain no derivatives from animals.
Are CBL products Gluten Free?
Yes. We utilize hydrolyzed rice protein instead of wheats. Rice Protein increases the ability of skin and hair to bind moisture, which results in increased flexibility and tensile strength for hair. On the skin and scalp, this increased moisture retention results in a more hydrated and elastic surface.
What is CBL shelf life ?
12 months stored in a cool dry environment.
What makes our products hypoallergenic ?
Hypoallergenic means that our products are relatively less likely to cause allergic reactions compared to non-hypoallergenic products. This is because CBL products contain fewer potential allergens, or substances that trigger allergic reactions.
If I had an allergic reaction from one of the CBL products, what should I do?
In the result of an allergic reaction stop the use of the product immediately, rinse the area with cool water and consult with your primary care physician to determine the origin of your reaction.

Can Non-Toxic hair dyes perform as well as conventional ammonia hair dyes?
They can actually perform better. The beauty of non-toxic, clean color systems is that the hair cuticle is not aggressively opened. With ammonia, the cuticle is opened in about 12 mins, which really disrupts the PH of our hair, therefore causing irreversible damage, dryness and breakage. Through our clean color systems, with the addition of active oils and natural pigments, we are still able to open the cuticle, inject it with pigment and at the same time hydrate the hair while it is processing.
What harmful ingredients are your hair dyes free of?
At Clean Beauty Lab, our products are free of ammonia, formaldehyde, propylene glycol, resorcinol and PPD’s. Our carefully selected professional color lines are the most natural and organic available worldwide.
What replaces the use of peroxide ?
Our activators contain only pharmaceutical grade hydrogen peroxide; the same used in eye drops.
Do your products cover gray 100%?
This one is a BIG one! Gray coverage is possible! We promise 100% gray coverage, no fading, and no oxidation. In fact, these colors actually last longer and the reason being, again, the cuticle is not aggressively opened as with ammonia, therefore the colors last longer. Also, the color range is a lot cooler than most professional color lines which helps us fight oxidation and maintain true colors for longer periods of time.
Can I become blonde without ammonia?
Absolutely yes ! The most beautiful blondes are accomplished when you take your time with them. Without ammonia, color processes may take a little longer, but the integrity of the strands is not compromised. In turn, we can promise beautiful, clean and healthy blondes.
What do you use for lighteners? Our lighteners are dust-free, ammonia free for highlights, hair painting and on scalp lightening.
What are the benefits of switching to Non-Toxic hair color?
There are multiple benefits to switching to non-toxic, clean color lines. The main benefit is the impact on the integrity of the hair shaft. Ammonia is a gas which blasts the hair cuticle open in about 12 mins. Clean colors do not contain ammonia. Ammonia-free pharmaceutical grade peroxides allow for the cuticle to open in about 40 mins. The timing is longer, but your hair won't be burnt or compromised. Another main benefit of utilizing Clean Colors is how protective they are to the scalp. You do not have to worry about burning, itching or discomfort.

If I have allergies or skin sensibilities am I still a good candidate for these products?
Allergies can be complex and some individuals may present symptoms even to the most gentle products in the market. We conduct a patch test and do a follow up 24-36 hours after to see if there were any reactions to the product. Usually, darker colors will contain more of the allergens that can cause an outbreak to sensitive individuals. In such cases, we can also do a color application inside foils to prevent the color from touching the scalp. We have many options available!
